As a non-profit agency serving a significant number of families with limited financial resources, we derive the bulk of our funding from Medicaid. As Medicaid dollars have been reduced it has become increasingly difficult to supply the basic amenities most children take for granted. Add to this the cost of facility maintenance and improvements, the need for technology upgrades at our eight New Mexico locations, the costs associated with the ongoing training required to stay abreast of new advances in treatment and therapy, and it becomes quickly apparent that our agency has needs that go beyond the funding received through Medicaid dollars.
To help us continue to serve these young people and their families we hope you will consider making a donation to Namaste in one or more of the following three categories:
- Clothing: Most of the children in our program range between the ages of 4 and 14. We affectionately refer to this period as the "growth years." Every few weeks it seems the children move on to another size wardrobe. Multiply this by the 100+ children in our care and you will understand why we have an ongoing need for new clothing for our children.
- Toys, games, books: Most of the children with whom we work are with us for extended periods of time. Often we have the opportunity to celebrate birthdays, Christmas, and other special events with them. Children are still children, regardless of their circumstances, and special occasions need to be celebrated to bring a sense of normalcy to their lives.
- Financial contributions: As mentioned previously, our agency has numerous projects that cannot be funded with the limited dollars available through Medicaid. Funds are needed for tutering for the children in our program, new computers are needed in our offices, and funding is needed for the ongoing training of our staff. You can make a contribution, either to a specific project or to Namaste's General Fund. Be assured, in either case, your donation will be well spent and greatly appreciated.
